Australia Day 2016 – Some Photos
The Village was a busy place for Australia Day with events all around the grounds. There was music by various groups including the Uke Jukes, the Caboolture Community Choir, Bit’s n Pieces, the Homestead Country Music group and the Kilties. The Choir performed on the veranda of the old hospital, and later on near the Military Museum. Many folk sang along with the popular songs.
These were on sale at the Feather Museum – where there were some ducks, chickens and geese on display.
There was activity all around – with vintage cars on display, children’s activities, the sausage sizzle, popcorn and fairy floss, and stall – Australian Flags and clothes, books, fudge, handicrafts from the Caboolture Woodcrafters, Gems from the Gem Club and more. The Bushrangers were kept busy, as was our train that did many circuits with a full load of passengers.
The Rotary Club of Caboolture ran the Toad Races which featured on Channel 10’s The Project, the Kilties played around the Village. There was action in every corner of the Village – occasionally interrupted by occasional heavy rain showers which sent everyone under cover of the buildings or their umbrella’s, but the rain didn’t last long and things were back on track again.
The Pub did a roaring trade, and the Red Hall Cafe was busy serving tea and coffee, sandwiches and Thai food. The Boiling Billy was kept busy too.
The Parade around the Village was delayed by rain, and the decision to remove some of the entrants for safety concerns, as the road was quite wet.
