Jazz Australis and Elly Hoyt
The weather was perfect – clear blue skies with a dash of clouds for our special event with Jazz Australis and Elly Hoyt on Saturday June 20th, held in the Village Green beside Stanmore Hall. The audience included folk who were fans of Jazz and those who were more Western or folk music fans, but perhaps were more converted to the jazz genre after this amazing event. We were treated to an amazing performance by some of Australian/Queensland’s top artists.
They came with their picnic rugs, their fold-up chairs, and their picnics and sat around under the trees in this wonderful venue. Of course, the bar was open!
The audience was so thrilled to hear Elly sing. We will remember her name> She is off to Boston, USA, to continue her career. We wish her well and look forward to hearing her again – hopefully back at the Village!
This little girl in the audience was bopping along with the music.
(The steam train passed during the performance and gave a toot – the folk on the train and some of our volunteers who were at the Jazz performance remember the journey on that train in January, as part of the celebration for 150 Years of Queensland Rail.)
Elly Hoyt has recently released her CD Oranges and Sunshine. Some of our audience expressed interest in purchasing this CD – we may order some to be sold through the Village. Anyone interested in purchasing her CD and collecting it at the Village, can you let Di know – email [email protected] and give us your details.
Thank you Jazz Australis and Elly Hoyt!
