Seniors Week Morning Tea – Photos
What a great way to celebrate!!! The special morning tea to celebrate Seniors Week was held on the verandah of the Pub in the Village and over 80 wonderful people attended and from all accounts had a great time. There was a talk about Family History, followed by a wonderful fashion parade.
The food was very well received – with sandwiches and a great selection of cakes, all made by Marilyn and helpers. Ben Barker entertained with his guitar and didgeridoo music while every one was being seated and the food, tea and coffee was taken to the tables. Guests had come from all around the area and further south at Chambers Flat.
MC Dave Black welcomed everyone and introduced the speaker and our fashionista Heather, who along with the wonderful sewing team in the village, had created the garments for the parade. (The sewing team work in a small room at the end of the Citadel and create clothes for volunteers, fashion parades, and items for the shop in the main building.)
The fashion parade was accompanied by appropriate music of the time, as Heather told the story of the change in fashion over the years. The wonderful models, all volunteers within the Village also enjoyed the time making their way along the red carpet.
There was a great display in front of the Pub, with two vintage cars including our special Model T Ford. After the event concluded many visitors took the opportunity to explore the many buildings and exhibits in the Village. You can see from the photos that there was a lot of fun to be had in the Village today, celebrating Seniors Week.
Many thanks to The Council Of The Ageing for sponsorship for this event. What a great event – many thanks to all the guests for attending, and to the volunteers who worked to make the event such a success.
