The following day, with the help of Village volunteers and the following sponsors
the horizontal Australia sign was cut in half and transported to the Village.
Burpengary Cranes lifted the letters of the horizontal Expo 88 Australia sign onto Alzino’s low loader. Styrene blocks were used as packing with timber battens to keep the letters separate.
Due to the size of the letters, Alzino’s had to have a pilot vehicle accompany the journey to the Village.
The sun from the letter “U” had to be transported separately due to its shape.
All letters are now a the Village and the first letter is ready for restoration.
Signs by Fantastic Reproductions have now been erected now within the Village as to the location of the signs when restored.
